War Horse Synopsis

At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert's beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He's soon caught up in enemy fire and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone and in no man's land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.

NEW CAST FOR WAR HORSE (23 MARCH 2015)

War Horse, the National Theatre's acclaimed stage production has released over 150,000 new tickets for sale taking bookings for the West End production into 2016. In its eighth year, and having now been seen by over 6 million worldwide, a new cast of 26 actors and 12 puppeteers have joined the company, led by the show's equine star Joey. War Horse recently completed sell-out dates in South Africa visiting Johannesburg and Cape Town and has now returned to the UK where it will complete a record-breaking national tour in Bristol next month.

A Chinese-language production of War Horse will open in autumn 2015 at the National Theatre of China's theatre in Beijing and will then tour across China. In August last year, the BBC War Horse Prom was staged at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the centenary commemorations of World War One.

War Horse continues at the New London Theatre, and is now booking to 13 February 2016.

The play originally opened at the National Theatre in 2007 and recently celebrated its 2000th performance.
