Lucrezia Borgia Synopsis
ENO has enjoyed great acclaim for its recent productions of Donizetti's bel canto canon with Lucia di Lammermoor and The Elixir of Love. Now the groundbreaking British film-maker Mike Figgis (who directed the Oscar-winning Leaving Las Vegas) makes his operatic debut with one of the Italian composer's most psychologically profound masterpieces.
Claire Rutter, star of ENO's Zandra Rhodes-designed Aida, returns as Renaissance Italy's darkest femme fatale, with rising young American tenor Michael Fabiano (who made an impressive UK debut as the Duke in ENO's Rigoletto in 2009) as Lucrezia's long-lost son. ENO's Olivier Award-winning former Music Director, Paul Daniel, conducts.
