Shen Yun Synopsis
Having captivated millions worldwide, New York based Shen Yun Performing Arts is delighted to return to London with a brand new show at the London Coliseum.
Inspired by ancient Chinese culture, Shen Yun presents classical Chinese dance at its best. Expect a large-scale production with 90 dancers, musicians and live orchestra; a unique combination of Chinese and Western instruments; stunning handmade costumes; breathtaking animated backdrops; and graceful dance routines with masterful live music.
There was a time when China was known as Shen Zhou, the Land of the Divine. Its arts and culture were so exquisite and vibrant that they could only have been bestowed by the heavens.
Today, the artists of Shen Yun are reviving this noble tradition from five millennium of Chinese civilization. Values like compassion and loyalty, kindness and bravery are deeply rooted in each performance.
The show’s dramatic story-based dances bring to life ancient legends like those of heroine Mulan and General Yue Fei as well as the modern-day story of Falun Gong in China.
Colourful folk and ethnic pieces transport you to the northern steppes of Mongolia and the lush, green forests of Yunnan. For a short while, allow yourself to be whisked away to the utmost purity and grace of Shen Yun.
The company features many award-winning singers, dancers and musicians. No other Chinese performing arts group can bring to stage such a remarkable body of talent.
Shen Yun is truly a study of beauty, grace, wisdom and virtue. It is traditional Chinese culture as it’s meant to be; magical, dazzling and uplifting.
