Antonio Gades, famous for his flamenco-based versions of Blood Wedding and Carmen, has transposed Lope de Vega's play, Fuenteovejuna, into a folk-dance-drama.

Set in an Andalusian village, Fuenteovejuna is based on real events in the 15th century. Previous Gades productions have been described as “drama of the highest order” (The Times) and as having “gutsy authenticity that leaves most other renditions out in the cold” (Time Out).
