Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to Sadler’s Wells with two programmes that showcase the extraordinary artistry of a company that has changed the face of American dance over the course of more than half a century.
Highlights of Programme Two include a brand new work from acclaimed choreographer Christopher Huggins and Artistic Director Judith Jamison’s 1993 Emmy-award winning production Hymn; a tribute to company founder Alvin Ailey.
Both programmes feature the classic Revelations, the most seen modern dance work in the world, choreographed by Ailey and first performed in 1960. A piece that celebrates and pays tribute to American dance music and history; it explores a journey from deepest grief to unbound joy and continues to inspire audiences
whenever it is performed.
